Announcing the McLean Chamber Academy!

The McLean Chamber Academy announces its inaugural season!

The McLean Chamber Academy, or MCA, is a new week-long summer program for high school musicians in the Washington DC area.  The curriculum focuses on improvement through chamber music and private lessons.  All students also take a variety of electives spanning topics from reed-making to time management.  The faculty members are all up-and-coming young musicians who have extensive teaching experience.  The close collaboration between faculty and students seeks to foster a mentoring spirit within the program.  It is our hope that the mentoring experience will continue beyond the week of the program.

MCA takes place for four hours every afternoon, from 1pm to 4pm.  Every day, each student will have four blocks of activities, plus a break for snack.  Each day, one block will be a chamber music rehearsal, and one will be a faculty coaching.  The rest will be filled with instrumental master classes, reed classes (for oboes and bassoons), and elective courses.  Over the course of the week, each student will receive one private lesson with a faculty member.  On Friday evening, the last day of MCA, there will be a public performance, in which each group will display what they have learned during the week.  The faculty ensemble will also perform at the final concert.

We are accepting flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn players to participate in MCA this year.  Space is limited, so sign up today!
